  • How will you celebrate Happy Tails Day?

If you have an event planned to celebrate Happy Tails Day email Happy Tails Day to let us know and we will add the details to this page to show your support.

    Here are some fun ideas!

    • Wear your Happy Tails Day merchandise! - Happy Tails Day is the official day of the year to wear your plush ears and tails! However if ears and tails don't match your outfit you can support by wearing a lapel pin or a wristband instead? Or simply wear something green and make a donation to the RSPCA on Friday 10 October. Green is a major feature of Happy Tails Day this year as it is bright and fresh, while representing the outdoors, springtime and the RSPCA paws in our logo.
    • Decorate, decorate, decorate! - Brighten up your desk or workspace with Happy Tails Day posters along with photos of your pets, your friends, family and workmates.
    • Celebrate lunch, morning or afternoon tea - This year's Happy Tails Day theme is all about enjoying the great outdoors. Celebrate Happy Tails Day with a picnic or BBQ lunch.
Celebrate Happy Tails Day with some yummy treats for morning or afternoon tea. Think green! Green lollies, peppermint chocolates or cupcakes topped with green icing. Don't forget to use RSPCA eggs in your baking!
If you want to stay healthy try crackers and guacamole or avocado dip, green apples, grapes and honeydew melon.  And to drink why not try lime cordial or green tea? The only limit is your imagination!
    • Games for the young and young at heart - Organise a "match the pet to the owner" competition. Bring in photos of pets and their owners and place them on your staff noticeboard - ask for a gold coin donation for entry and see who can match the pet to their owners correctly.
    • Spread the word - Write a letter to your local newspaper or call your local radio station to tell them what you're doing to celebrate Happy Tails Day and to encourage others to get involved. This is great publicity for your school, business or workplace as well as promoting the event! Display a Happy Tails Day poster on your staff noticeboard or write an announcement to include on your staff intranet or newsletter.
    • Tell us how you celebrated Happy Tails Day! - Email RSPCA Australia on happytailsday@rspca.org.au to let us know how you celebrated Happy Tails Day 2008, or what a great success your event was. Take lots of photographs too - we'd love to see them! And if you have any fabulous ideas for other ways to celebrate Happy Tails Day in 2009, drop us a line and share your thoughts!
